Cinnamon's History
Cinnamon is the culmination of Mahendra Singh's years of training, hard work and experience in running restaurants all over the world. He has dreamed of running his own establishment since he began his training in Jaipur.
His first job outside of India was working for a Toronto entrepreneur for whom he consulted all over the U.S. And Canada in the commercial food industry. After learning the ins and outs of the food industry, Mahendra had the opportunity to work for a restaurant in New York City, where he began to develop relationships that would play an important part in bringing Cinnamon about.
Mahendra moved to Philadelphia to help build a restaurant there, and then on recommendation moved to Pittsburgh to build one of his greatest successes. There he also met his wife, Julia, who as a regular customer, decided to keep him on permanently.
Together, they moved to New Jersey so Mahendra could take on another challenge. He was hired by previous associates to help them open a second branch of their own successful venture in New York City, which was another great success. After a few years, Mahendra was ready.
In 2005 Mahendra decided it was time to make the dream a reality, and opened Cinnamon Indian Restaurant in Morris Plains, New Jersey. He has brought his attention to detail, his knowledge of customer service, and most especially, his talent in the kitchen and in training his staff to Morris County, where he has been rewarded with loyal customers who have helped make Cinnamon the wonderful experience it has become today.
